🕜 5pm – 9pm (varies)  |  📍 88 Quốc HươngThảo Điền, Quận 2

All for a mere 260K, featuring 5 sets of tables and chairs, and served up for only for a few hours a day, this humble roast duck spot is something like an out-of-body experience. The family that run our favorite house of roast duck in Thảo Điền are those heroes that this city deserves.

 Roast Duck Saigon
The best Roast Duck you never had

How we found it.

The Streatery crew first encountered the duck spot thanks to a recommendation from our fellow foody friends over at ATEWHATWHERE. The Cambodian element of the blog invited us to sit down and see what he loved so much about it. We were immediately drawn in by the classic plastic chairs, flimsy metal table composition of the place, and its overall no-frills charm. Add to that the ducks slowly roasting over the spit, the friendly family full of smiles, and you can’t help but feel the love as you sit back in the chair that might break under your 90 Kilos of expat weight.

A family recipe.

The family at 88 Quốc Hương does duck a little differently from the usual Vịt Nướng shops around town. For starters, they have their own unique seasonings and dipping sauce that no one else has. The duck is poached and seasoned beforehand ( we assume ) and slow roasted. They make the  Gravy dipping sauce of roasted sesame and duck drippings. If we didn’t have you at sesame + Duck drippings, did we mention how nicely the duck itself is seasoned? Its got the perfect mix of flavor plus tenderness. For a fully immersive Vietnamse experience order a bottle of home-made Rượu, which washes down with the duck beautifully. He will charge you for what you drink only.
