All the gin you could possibly imagine (and maybe more) sits behind the bar at District 1’s upscale gin bar, The Gin House. The dimly lit, elegant space is certainly on the formal side for Ho Chi Minh. But their expertly curated gin list and outstanding house-made cocktails make it well worth a visit. Tucked into an alley in the heart of District 1, the Gin House is that rare space combining old school charm. Furthermore, attentive service, and a long list of specialty drinks worth reading and re-reading make you want to go back for more.

But their expertly curated gin list and outstanding house-made cocktails make it well worth a visit.

You walk through the heavy purple curtains to reveal a dimly lit gin bar playing old jazz and blues music. Depending on the night, the dapper bartenders throw about the mixers and bottles almost in tune with the music. You can start off with the basic gin infusion menu, on the first pages of their list. The best in our humble opinions is the Jasmine Flower infusion cocktail (160K). It gives you a robust hit of gin with soft touches of jasmine to round it off.

From the more experimental menu, our favorite was the “seaweed cup” (200K). Specifically, this is  an infusion of dehydrated orange, chili, dry gin, hazelnut liqueur, fresh lime and gin house foam.

Moving upscale we have the “signature cocktails” with some eccentric mixes, showing that The Gin House mixologists are not afraid to play risky. For example, their most eccentric is the “Banh Mi Op La” (320K) which includes: Spiced Gin, Cherry, aromatic bitters, lime, mango puree, cooked wine, and of course bacon and a fried egg. This is not for the faint hearted, and not necessarily our favorite, but we can’t recommend enough that you try it.

The Gin House Happy Hour

The Gin House has a phenomenal happy hour: every day from 5-8pm: from the infusion menu you can buy one get one free (this is updated from time to time) Check their facebook page for updates :
